The Kibra by-elections were going to be interesting. While it was widely speculated that ODM candidate Imram Okoth would triumph, deputy president William Ruto was keen on an upset and he did a fairly good job at it. His candidate McDonald Mariga, a former Harambee Stars international, was thrust into the deep sea that is Kibra politics.
Amount Used For Campaigns
According to Homa Bay County Women’s Representative Gladys Wanga, the Tangatanga wing of Jubilee party spent kes200 million to take over what came to be referred as baba’s bedroom.
Here is what the Women Rep shared on twitter:
I have learnt reliably that in 2 months, tangatanga spent close to KES 200M to take over the bedroom. Each of the 11,000 votes cost a whooping 18,000/- of stolen money. What a pity! #BedroomSecured
