When celebrated South African fitness trainer Nkululeko Zane Dlamini, popularly known as “King of Squats”, visited Kenya for the Fitness Explosion Challenge at the Waterfront in Karen, it was a high-budget affair.

The organizers spent a tidy sum on covering travel, accommodation and other logistics for the King of Squats and his team.

WoK has pieced a detailed breakdown of the costs and what Zane earned during his stay:

Airfare: Ksh 1.6 million

Zane traveled to Kenya with two companions—his manager Moses Sibanda and a female fitness instructor. The trio flew business class on Kenya’s national carrier, Kenya Airways.

The cost for the round-trip tickets amounted to Ksh 1.6 million, making this the most significant expenditure for the organizers.

Accommodation at Sankara Hotel

While in Nairobi, Zane and his team stayed at the luxurious Sankara Hotel, a five-star establishment in Westlands. Although the exact amount spent on accommodation wasn’t revealed, the organizers had a partnership with the hotel, which reduced the overall cost.

Speaking to NairobiNews, the King of Squats said of his trip,

“Our hosts have been really good to us. Everything we asked for was provided. We were treated well, the hotel management was also very nice. We felt at home but far from home. I am happy”

Transportation and Security: SUVs and Bodyguard

The fitness guru was chauffeured around Nairobi in at least three SUVs at all times. He was also provided with a personal bodyguard during his stay. The cost of these services were not available at the time of going to publication.

Leisure Activities: Game Drive at Nairobi National Park

As part of his experience, Zane and his team enjoyed a game drive at the Nairobi National Park, courtesy of the event organizers. This was one of the leisure activities that helped make his trip to Kenya memorable.

Performance Fee: Ksh 700,000

For his role as the headline act at the Fitness Explosion Challenge, Zane was paid Ksh 700,000. The event attracted a large crowd consisting mostly of women who paid Ksh 3,000 for tickets to participate in the session led by Zane, known for his signature squat routines and energetic fitness challenges.

The amount spent was over Ksh 2.3 million, excluding additional costs such as transportation, security, and leisure activities.
