Carol Katrue is a Kenyan gospel turned mugithi singer who quickly rose to fame after releasing the hit single Githurii Githee. Her impressive vocal abilities, lyrical content and stage presence will guarantee the artist a place among the greats in the genre.

Real name
Her real name is Carol Muthoni Mbuthia.
Age
She turned 20 years this year (2021).
Family
The artist’s father is known as Martin Mbuthia while her mother is Monica Wangui. Carol Katrue is the fourth born in a family of five girls. Her eldest sister is Ruth Wambui, followed by Margaret Warigia, Jane Wambui and Esther wanjiru-in that order.
Talking to Jeff Kuria on his YouTube channel, Carol recounted how their father was abusive and brazen enough to bring another woman in the house while he was intoxicated.
This forced Carol’s mother to leave the marriage and return to her first husband who was the biological father of her eldest daughter Ruth. The artist said that her step father was very good to all of them. Her two sisters, Jane and Esther, are also artists.

Career
Her musical journey started in Gilgil, Nakuru where she was born and spent her early years. Back then, the Githurii Githee hitmaker pelted gospel songs. Her sister, Wambui-a gospel artist-started singing before her and they would hawk her CDs to potential buyers. She quit the gospel industry and opted for mugithi. She moved to Nairobi in 2013 where her star rose to dizzying heights.
Marriage
The mugithi sensation is married to Miracle Baby, a member of the popular Gengetone group Sailors. Carol Katrue recounted how she would take food to the gengetone artist who was admitted in hospital.
Their love was brewed in the hospital bed and Katrue admitted that she made a pass for the artist. In a candid interview with Jeff, the artist said she played the good daughter in law to impress Miracle Baby’s parents.
The couple live together as man and wife in Membley estate.
