Caroline Njoki: The 26-Year-Old Appointed To KPA Board

Caroline Njoki Maina was on Friday, January 20 appointed as a member of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) board.

The 26-year-old and four others were appointed as members of the board by Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.

Through a gazette notice dated January 20, 203, Murkomen said the changes take place with immediate effect. 

The new members will serve for a period of three years.

UDA loyalist

According to her social media platforms, Njoki described herself as a loyal member of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Further, close sources indicated that she a key participant in President William Ruto’s campaigns in the run up to the August 9 General Elections.

During campaigns, Njoki rallied youth from the Mt Kenya region behind the UDA team at a time when Jubilee and Azimio were running havoc.

She has been spotted severally with President Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua whom she comes from the same constituency, Mathira, with.

WoK also understands that Njoki enjoys a close relationship with the first daughter, Charlene Chelagat Ruto.

In fact, the first daughter congratulated Njoki on her graduation in December 2022, referring her to ‘baby sister’.

“My baby sis did it! She now has the power to read and write. So proud of you Njoki for being a good example to our youth; handling both your degree & active role in politics with poise

“Education gives us a seat at the table; where the world is set and ours for the taking,” Charlene wrote on Twitter.

The 26-year-old was congratulated by among others, Dennis Itumbi who expressed confidence in her.

“Congratulations Njoki – your appointment to the board of KPA at 26 is the stuff that deserves ink on many more chapters

“I have watched you work and I have no doubt you will deliver. I liked that you had an easier path, but you chose the unchartered waters. Very proud,” Itumbi wrote.
