Cynthia Karuri-Kropac: The New Safaricom Enterprise Manager Poached From US AT&T

Cynthia Karuri-Kropac has been appointed as the new Chief Enterprise Business Officer effective September 1, to replace Joseph Wanjohi who has been acting since May. Wanjohi took the role in an acting capacity after the exit of Chris Senanu in May.

Education

Cynthia Karuri-Kropac holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Finance and Financial Management Services from Kent State University-Graduate School of Management. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Toledo.

Career

Cynthia has over nineteen years of experience in telecommunications, business strategy, industrial IoT, enterprise technology solutions, executive advisory and decision support, operational excellence, and process re-engineering.

She has also led diverse teams for sales, engineering, and management resources that design, sell, and implement wireless integrated solutions that harness the power of a global mobility/IOT network.

In 2010, she was appointed AT&T Global Lead and Director, Enterprise Solutions and Sales Support, role she held until 2019 when she took up her latest role as Senior Director, Enterprise Mobile and IoT Technologies.

Prior to joining AT&T, Cynthia Karuri-Kropac worked for Accenture/Andersen Consulting as a Senior Manager for seven years.

In August 2022, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa announced Cynthia’s appointment through an official statement.

“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Karuri-Kropac as Chief Enterprise Business Officer effective 1st September 2022.

Cynthia joins us from AT&T, where she was the Senior Director, Enterprise Mobile and loT Technologies, since 2019.

Cynthia’s career at AT&T Inc. spanned 19 years, having joined BellSouth in 2003 as a Senior IT Client Account Management Lead before taking on the role of Director, Mobile Service Delivery and Operations, for Cingular Wireless in 2008.

In 2010, she was appointed ATAT Global Lead and Director, Enterprise Solutions and Sales Support, role she held until 2019 when she took up her latest role as Senior Director, Enterprise Mobile and IoT Technologies.

Prior to joining AT&T, Cynthia worked for Accenture/Andersen Consulting as a Senior Manager for 7 years.”
