Somali celebrity Abdirahman Abubakar, aka Dalmar Yare, dethrones Diamond Platnumz as the highest paid celebrity in the region. In a letter doing heavy rotation on social media platforms, Garissa secretary and Head of County Public Service Abdi M. Ali instructs the county Chief Officer to pay Dalmar Yare a staggering kes2 million. The Somali performed during the launch of Garissa County Revolving Fund held in Almond Resort, Garissa Township Constituency on 12th June 2019.

So, who Dalmar Yare?
He is a big time celebrity among the Somalis. According to newmusicusa.com, the artist began singing professionally at the age of nine. He went on to form Waayaha Cusub (New Era”) in 2002 then based in Kenya. The group has gone to become one of the most recognizable Somali group in the world. The artist had to flee Kenya in 2006 after his hard-hitting lyrics challenging Somali warlords and extremist put his life on the line. He moved in the United States. In 2012, the artist reconnected with former Waayah Cusub member Hodan Abdirahman in Minneapolis in 2012 and they continued from where they had stopped. The duo went on to work with other artists of Somali descent and formed the North America Super Stars group.
