Dan Njoroge is the CEO and founder of Lesus Executive Concierge. The company hires out cars, yachts, helicopters, provides motorcycle escorts and also offers executive close protection (security). The idea to start the company was conceived when he was broke and tired of his daily job. He went from being another hawker in the concrete jungle to the boss of a top corporate company.
Here is his story as told by WoK.
Education
He graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Finance, General from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Career
Njoroge began his career in the banking world. He worked as a teller at Equity Bank before being promoted to Operations Manager. He then became an operations manager at Chase Bank Kenya. Afterwards, he quit his job without any definite plan. All he knew was that he did not want to continue being employed.
He began branding and printing and also selling printing papers. He would hawk the papers in different buildings in Nairobi. The job was not as profitable and it was tiring. He became broke, sold everything and even began sleeping in his friends’ houses. He even had thoughts of going back home.
Starting Lesus Executive Concierge
The CEO told K24 that it was at this time that a friend asked him to stay at his house. The same friend was staying abroad and had a Range Rover. He reached out to a car hire company and asked if they could hire the top of the range car. The company accepted and he ended up making a lot of money out of the deal.
This experience inspired him to start a car hire business which he did in 2013 in a small room and at the time he had no single car. He basically started out as a broker linking car owners to customers. The business was registered and when he needed an official work space to work with his clients, he would use an office belonging to a friend.
Dan Njoroge also took advantage of OLX, which was very popular at the time, and Facebook to market the business. He received his first client who wanted to hire cars for a wedding. He performed exceptionally well and was able to get more clients through the first one.
Slowly and steadily the business grew and he even began offering services to various international clients including a delegation that came to the country with the South African Embassy and a delegation that came with the president of Seychelles.
