Dr Fardosa Ahmed: The 37-Year-Old Founder & Owner of Premier Hospital-Mombasa

Dr Fardosa Ahmed is a Kenyan physician, entrepreneur, and health administrator, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Premier Hospital-Mombasa.

She was passionate about medicine and always dreamt of opening her own medical facility when she was grown.

Background & Education

Dr Fardosa was born in Mombasa in 1985. She grew up partly in the coastal city before her family moved to Nairobi.

She attended Makini Primary School and later transferred to Loreto Convent Valley Road School, also in Nairobi, where she concluded her High School.

Dr Fardosa proceeded to the University of Nairobi (UoN) where she pursued human medicine and graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree. She later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management.

Between 2010 and 2011, Dr Fardosa Ahmed attended a Healthcare Management training at the University of Surrey.

She also obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health/ Health Care Administration/ Management from USIU-Afruica where she attended between 2019 and 2021.

Dr Fardosa also boasts Certifications from the Strathmore Business School (SBS) in Hospital Management for Health Professionals (2019). She also  attended the Corporate Governance Training Course for Directors offered by the Centre for Corporate Governance in 2019.

Founding Premier Hospital

After completing her studies, Dr Fardosa moved back to Mombasa where she inherited a piece of land in Nyali. She sought money from like-minded friends and erected an eight-storey building on the piece of land.

She constructed a commercial building with office suits. However, plans changed and the Premier Hospital was born.

The 37-year-old doctor established Premier Hospital and has successfully spearheaded operations at the medical facility.

Awards & Recognitions

In 2018, Dr Fardosa was  among the “Top 40 Under 40 Women in Kenya in 2018” in September of 2018.

Premier Hospital

The medical facility first opened its doors on November 4, 2017. It is is a private, for-profit, tertiary care health facility located in Nyali, Mombasa.

Premier Hospital offers high quality emergency, outpatient and inpatient care and as of June 2021, had a bed capacity of 82.

The facility has a paediatric outpatient centre, a surgical suite, a cardiac suite, an orthopaedics suite, a gynaecology suite, an oncology suite, a dialysis centre, an outpatient chemotherapy suite and an endoscopy suite.

The hospital has well-trained staff and personnel who offer quality services to patients. The facility also boasts state of the art equipment in various departments including the radiology unit.

The hospital offers 24/7 first-class diagnostic services such as CT scan, Ultra sound and X-Ray.
