Reale Hospital is one of the leading healthcare providers in the Uasin Gishu region and its environs. They offer inpatient, outpatient, dental care, eye care clinic, laboratory, ultrasound, radiology, physiotherapy, surgical department and maternity services. Currently, they are in the process of developing a 245 bed ultramodern hospital complex aimed at serving the larger North and South Rift region. The project is expected to be completed by September 2022. At the steering wheel of this leading healthcare provider is Dr. Kipkoech Ruto, a medical doctor by profession.

Here is the story of the owner of Reale Hospital as told by WoK

A Brief History

Dr. Kipkoech grew up in an area where people practiced Agriculture. Soon after completing high school he started growing crops in the portion of land his parents had allocated him.

Months later, he got into the business of selling agricultural produce across the Western region. Traveling far and wide, he sold maize, potatoes and vegetables among other things before joining medical school.

He pursued a medical degree for five years-graduating in 2003. Luckily, at the time, medical students would be given jobs soon after graduating paving the way for him to begin his career immediately. He dedicated most of his time in his career saying he had no time for entertainment.

Venturing into Business

Like most professionals, he too sought to have a side business. He ventured into the matatu business, riding on reports that the venture had handsome returns. He borrowed a loan and his first and only matatu was bought. It plied the Eldoret- Kisumu route. This would, however, prove to be a very difficult venture since he had also taken another loan. At the end of the month, he would receive very little money which could not cater for his needs and his family’s. The venture was short-lived as two years down the line, he decided it was not for him.

Opening His Clinic

In 2009, he decided to open his very own clinic and got his private practice license. Dedicating all his effort to the job, he worked around the clock to ensure that his patients were getting the best care possible. Many began seeking his services and what started as a small clinic gave birth to Reale Hospital which opened its doors in 2013. The hospital currently operates in Baringo, Kitale, Nandi, Eldoret and Nairobi.
