Born in the quaint village of Kiambu, Mary Waceke munene stands as a testament to boldness, fearlessness, and the relentless pursuit of education.

Her journey began with adversity, losing her mother in 1996 and finding solace and guidance under the wings of her grandparents.

Raised by her no-nonsense grandfather, Mary’s upbringing was marked by a profound emphasis on education.

Her grandfather’s  determination ensured that she not only excelled in her studies but also understood the value of pushing one’s limits.

“My father’s stern approach left no room for me to treat education lightly; it was a matter he took very seriously,” the JKUAT alumna told this scribe.

High school became a platform for her to prove her mettle, inspired by her cousin and elder uncles who had set impressive precedents of excellence.

Stepping onto the higher education path, Mary’s trajectory initially led her to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology {JKUAT} University to pursue a degree in Actuarial Science.

However, her grandfather’s wisdom redirected her towards a Bachelor of Commerce, a decision that would shape her future significantly.

“Although I had been admitted to Jkuat for actuarial science, my grandfather had other plans. He insisted I follow in the footsteps of my cousin, who had secured a prestigious job while still in university,” She said

Unveiling her potential, Mary graduated with First Class Honours.

Post-graduation, Mary embarked on a professional journey that spanned continents and industries.

Her journey took her to Jubilee Insurance, where she worked as an accountant and completed her CPAK certification.

However, her ambitions reached even greater heights, and in 2020, she pursued a Master’s in Business Analytics in the United States.

Her corporate experience paved the way for roles at JP Morgan Chase, Mind24-7, and finally Apple – one of America’s premier tech giants.

At Apple, she found herself as a Senior Business Analyst and Database Developer, all the while pursuing her Master’s in Business Analytics at Grand Canyon University.

Mary’s accomplishments at Apple ignited a new passion within her – a drive to empower immigrants to excel in the dynamic US tech industry.

Collaborating with Professor Erick Kamamba, she co-founded DMK IT Solutions School of Analytics.

Through this institution, students are equipped with skills in Data Analytics, Business Analysis, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.

The school’s notable alumni have secured positions in esteemed corporate American giants like Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Deloitte, Apple, Chase Bank among others.

The journey of DMK IT Solutions has been a resounding success since its inception. It has transformed lives, training countless individuals – both native Americans and immigrants – to thrive in the tech industry.

Anchored in the US, the school’s primary goal remains unwavering: to train and empower immigrants to shine in the burgeoning tech landscape.
