As gin enthusiasts across the world raise their glasses to celebrate World Gin Day, Gordon’s, the world’s No. 1 international gin brand, is putting a refreshing spin on tradition by pioneering a new at-home cocktail movement rooted in one of Kenya’s most cherished rituals: teatime.

To mark the occasion, Gordon’s Gin hosted an exclusive gin masterclass at the Holiday Inn Nairobi, where gin lovers and mixologists gathered to explore how everyday ingredients including local teas and infusions can transform the at-home drinking experience. The event showcased Gordon’s best mixes, including its signature tea cocktails, led by the brand’s mixologist Francis Mutunga, alias ‘Smiles’, who guided attendees through a unique fusion of the brand’s iconic flavours London Dry, Sicilian Lemon, and Premium Pink with herbal teas, indigenous spices, and fresh botanicals. The result: a new era of flavourful, zesty, fuss-free mixology, all from the comfort of one’s home.

“We know Kenyans have a rich tea-drinking culture embedded in our identity. By combining this cultural cornerstone with the versatility of Gordon’s, we are inspiring new, playful, and approachable ways for consumers to enjoy gin at home. It’s exciting to see the uptake of unique cocktails like these tea cocktails, and I couldn’t be prouder to see Gordon’s leading the gin category on this front,” said Elizabeth Otieno, Brand Manager, Gordon’s.

The Gordon’s tea cocktails are part of the brand’s ongoing efforts to make gin more exciting and locally relevant throughout the year. As consumers seek more mindful and meaningful ways to unwind at home, Gordon’s is charting a path forward with creative pairings that celebrate tradition with a modern, tasty twist all while encouraging fun experimentation.

  • Gordon’s Gin & Tonic – Gordon’s London Dry Gin (60ml) and Indian tonic water (30ml).

  • Gordon’s Simple & Zesty – Gordon’s Premium Pink (60ml), hibiscus tea (60ml), simple syrup (30ml), topped up with tonic water.
  • Gordon’s Ginger Amber – Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon (60ml), honey syrup (20ml), lemon & ginger tea (60ml).

These cocktails, easy to prepare and infused with familiar flavours are designed to transform everyday afternoon tea moments into gin tea moments, bridging generational gaps.

As Kenya continues to define its own unique gin culture, Gordon’s remains at the forefront, encouraging consumers to stir things up one cup or glass at a time.
