High Schools Expected to Top in KCSE 2024 Results

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination is a defining moment in the academic journey of thousands of students across the country. Speaking in Kisii, Education CS Julius Ogamba said the 2024 KCSE exam results will be released in the second week of January.

In this article, WoK explores the top schools projected to excel in the 2024 examinations.

Moi High School Kabarak

This school has always been known for its stellar performance, so it didn’t come as a surprise when they topped the 2023 KCSE exams. All the students qualified to join university, with 62 managing A plains, 155 getting A-, 102 scoring B+, 60 earning B plain, 18 achieving B-, and just four scoring C+. With a mean grade of 10.43, the school took the enviable title of the best performing school in the country. Even if it doesn’t take the top spot in 2024, chances are high it’ll still be in the top ten.

Mudasa Senior Secondary School

This school was a surprise entrant in the top ten list, achieving an impressive mean grade of 10.4. All 73 candidates who sat for the 2023 KCSE exams qualified to join university. Will the school replicate this stellar performance? It will certainly be a tall order, but if they manage to secure a spot among the top ten performers in the 2024 KCSE exam results, Mudasa will have established its reputation as an academic giant.

Kapsabet High School

Another top performer that has consistently been shining in national exams. The school came in third in the 2023 KCSE exams with a mean grade of 10.2. This school is expected to do well as it has done over the years. In 2019, the school was the second best nationally and went on to produce the top student. In 2020 and 2021, KB as it is popularly known, ranked first nationally. This year it’s expected to be among the top five best performers. 

Pangani Girls

A traditional top performer. Last year, Pangani Girls managed to post a mean grade of 9.9. Going by past results, the school is likely to make it to the top ten list in 2024. 

Chemelil Sugar Academy 

This private school in Muhoroni constituency Kisumu county was among the best performing schools in the 2023 KCSE exams with a mean grade of 9.89. With a low student population, the school is expected to post good results in the 2024 exams. 

St. Peters Abwao Secondary School

The school in Migori performed exceptionally well with a mean grade of 9.74. All the 194 candidates expect one managed to secure spots in universities. The 2024 results will be a defining moment for the institution and its place among the best schools in Kenya. 

Maranda School 

In 2011, Maranda was the best performing secondary school in Kenya. The academic giant has continued to post decent results with a mean grade of 9.578 in the 2023 KCSE exam results. Chances are high that the school will make it to the top ten best performers. 

Alliance High 

The institution had a mean grade of 9.591, according to teachers.co.ke. This has been a top performing school and it will not come as a surprise if they top in 2024 KCSE exams. 

Other traditional top performers expected on this list include Alliance Girls, Kenya High School, Mang’u High School, Starehe Boys’ and Girls’ Centres, Maryhill Girls High School and Precious Blood Riruta.
