Angry Narok Town residents barricaded the Nairobi-Kisii Highway as they protested police harassment in the region during curfew time.
Businesses in Narok Town came to a halt as the irate Kenyans raised concerns about the police.
They blocked the Narok-Mai Mahiu road with stones, also setting used tires on fire in the middle of the road.
The protest lasted well over two hours, before the police managed to restore order.
They accused the police of arresting people for flouting the curfew, and releasing them after paying a Ksh3,000 bribe.
They engaged the police in running battles through the town, and in the course even appeared to overpower the police before they called for back up.
The protest allegedly broke out at an eatery where police confronted some revelers asking them to wear face masks. That is when irate residents voiced their concerns.
The protests caused a major traffic snarl-up along the busy road.
Police advised members of the public to adhere to the Covid-19 containment measures issued by the government.
