Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, has outlined the process through which Kenyans can secure employment opportunities in Germany.

This follows a labor agreement established between Germany and Kenya.

Njogu indicated that this agreement addresses critical aspects, including the acknowledgment of Kenyan skills, the accreditation of Kenyan professionals and the validation of Kenyan qualifications.

She emphasized that this agreement is unprecedented, establishing a foundational framework for diaspora employment in Germany.

“What the comprehensive migration and mobility partnership agreement does is create a framework for those diaspora jobs in Germany. It’s a first of its kind agreement

“Why work in Germany? Because you get to find a good job, a good wage or salary, and new experiences. But we are looking at it in terms of skills and technology transfer,” she said.

Njogu stated that Kenyans can access the jobs by visiting https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/ or https://www.deutschland.de/de/arbeiten-in-deutschland websites.

The labor agreement between Kenya and Germany aims to address workforce shortages in Germany while providing employment opportunities for skilled Kenyans.

This pact was formalized during Kenyan President William Ruto’s visit to Germany and allows for the recruitment of Kenyan workers to fill gaps in various sectors, particularly in information technology and healthcare.

Initially, it was reported that Germany was looking to welcome up to 250,000 skilled and semi-skilled workers from Kenya.

However, this figure was dismissed with German authorities stating that the agreement does not specify a fixed quota but rather opens pathways for qualified individuals based on the German Skilled Immigration Act.

“This information is clearly false. The agreement between Germany and Kenya does not include any numbers or quotas of skilled workers who will have the opportunity to work in Germany. All applicants must fulfil the strict requirements of the German Skilled Immigration Act,” Germany’s Federal Ministry of Interior and Community said on X.

Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for the repatriation of Kenyans who are currently in Germany without legal residency, ensuring that they can return home safely.
