Ida Alisha
Ida Alisha is a Kenyan actress, model and script writer who has been in the field for over 10 years now. She first came to the limelight through the ‘Mother-in-law’ show – a popular local drama series that aired on Citizen TV. She used the stage name ‘Olive Mwamba’ and played the role of a spoilt and stubborn child. She was also one of the cast members of another show at Citizen TV named ‘Tahidi High.’ While at her peak in the acting career, Roy Upton met her now ex-husband in church and the two got married in 2013 while she was 21 years old.
Tying the Knot
In 2013, Idah was all excited to finally to get married to her “best friend” as she called him at the time. She took to social media to heap praises to her now ex-husband:
“IN A FEW HOURS I WILL BE WALKING DOWN THE AISLE TO THE MAN OF MY CHOICE,THE PRIEST OF MY HOME,MY #1 FAN,MY BEST FRIEND,THE GUY I BULLY HAHAHAHA AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE FATHER OF MY FUTURE BAIBES….IM SO EXCITED!!!!!”
On the morning of her wedding, she shared this:
“its morning,im so excited,i pray for great weather, for an awesome day,for covering for all those people who are travelling and for good health and renewed strength!!! Today i get to say I do the set of ribs where i came from….at last, the missing ribs meet”
On his part, Idah husband had this to share:
“The day God formed me in my mother’s womb, He had my whole life planned out including this day when i become one with the only woman He made for me. Idah Alisha, i can’t even imagine getting married to anyone else. I can’t wait to see your smile, to look into your eyes and to kiss your lips. The angels in heaven will be standing still to witness our ocassion of love. I love you Mahal”
Abusive Marriage
Ida got married to her husband just after one year of dating. Unknown to her, she had married the devil himself, just three months into the relationship, he became the complete opposite of the ‘Youth Pastor’ she knew. During an exclusive interview with Lynn Ngugi that aired on Youtube, she explained how the man used to beat her up.
“I started seeing the red flags after marriage. The first time he slapped me I was like it must be this mouth. I must have said something reckless that made him angry. Women were calling him at night, asking where he was. When I asked he would beat me up. He once beat me because a male fan had said hi to me while in town claiming that I had started straying. One day my two girlfriends and I went out. Immediately we got to the venue, he called us back. On getting home, he beat me in front of my friends, but that day I fought back,” he explained.
When asked if she was ever in love with her ex-husband, Ida said that looking from her perspective now, she wasn’t in love with him and that she hurriedly made a decision to get married to a man whom they only bonded with because of trauma.
“I went through a lot of pressure from the church where most of my friends who were older than me, around 27, were getting married and I was constantly asked when I would settle down. The guy was 28 at the time and I was 21. Such a big difference. I think we had trauma bonding because he would tell me how his dad was abusive, and I related with him where my dad was the same,” she revealed.
She however got out of the toxic relationship, relocated to the United States of America (USA) where she underwent therapy and was able to heal from the abuse and trauma.
Finding Love Again
Idah moved on with her life after relocating to the US for further studies. She introduced her new man known as Izrael Stephens, a Kenyan residing in the US.
