In an effort to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, many Kenyans often relax in secluded areas or the emerging selection of Airbnbs located in suburban areas.
Most people are willing to spend a significant amount of money for a night or a weekend to enjoy a homely experience away from their usual surroundings.
One particular Airbnb has garnered attention due to its distinctive design and amenities.
This traditional mud hut, a one-bedroom accommodation situated in Siaya County, offers a glimpse into a lifestyle predating modern stone apartments.
Priced at Ksh 3,000 per night, this eco-friendly lodging operates entirely on solar energy for its electronic devices and can host up to two guests.
Despite its rustic appearance, the room is furnished with a television, a radio, lighting, and smartphone charging ports to ensure that guests remain entertained.
“Away from the hectic of Nairobi, rustic mud huts are tucked away between corn fields and bushes on a fenced plot near Ugunja,” read part of the property description.
The property has been available for reservations since January 2022, and it offers guests a gas stove along with various kitchen utensils.
Additionally, the double bed is equipped with a mosquito net.
“Breakfast and traditional food can be offered optimally, also outdoors under a mango tree,” the property description further read.
Check-in is available between 12 PM and 6 PM, while check-out is scheduled from 8 AM to 11 AM, as indicated in the listing.
The property is deemed kid-friendly, featuring a large play area that can also serve as a parking space.
However, pets and smoking are prohibited on the premises.
In the event of cancellation, guests must cancel at least 60 days in advance to receive a full refund, and a cancellation made at least four weeks before check-in will result in a 50 percent refund.
Cancellations made after these deadlines will not be eligible for any refund.
