James Smart Profile: From The Slums To A Renowned Journalist

James Obuya Smart is a senior English News Anchor with NTV Kenya and the host of the popular TV Show With All Due Respect. He is well-known for his prowess in moderating political discussions, and was the interviewer for DP Ruto’s interview on NTV on Tuesday 12th July, 2022.

The interview with DP Ruto was cut short in the end, which resulted in a range of emotions across the political spectrum, some claiming malice on NTV’s side. However, Smart disclosed that the abrupt end to the interview was not their doing, explaining that the broadcast and signal had been set for only two hours.

When the allotted time had passed, the signal automatically detached itself, putting an end to the conversation. He said, “The interview lasted for well over two hours, and the OB signal failed in the very last three minutes.”

Next Tuesday 19th July, the news anchor with over 14 years experience in broadcast journalism will moderate the Presidential Debate for nominated Deputy Presidents alongside KTN’s Sophia Wanuna.
