Joseph Kubende: An Illustrious Career Cut Short By Death

In summary:

  • When it came to wooing Bungoma voters, none held the candle for Joseph Kubende.
  • He was a gem for politicians as he would make crowds sing and dance during events.
  • Moreover, Kubende was a literature guru who authored the novel In Search of Gold and once worked as a tutor at Kigali Institute of Education.

The curtains have fallen, and an illustrious career of 40 year old Joseph Kubende has come to an abrupt end. It is a shocking death considering just three days ago, Kubende was a robust soul going by his posts on social media.

According to Tuko.co.ke, Kubende is alleged to have fallen from an apartment and was rushed to a Nairobi hospital but succumbed. He breathed his last while at Radiant Hospital, Pangani.

Advice Mundalo, a politician and close friend took to social media to confirm that Kubende was no more.

We have tried to rush him to hospital and all seemed and looked well as the doctors tried to put their professionalism at best. Watching Joseph Kubende move from full life to lifeless is heartbreaking,” he posted on Facebook.

Joseph Kubende was a man of many hats

Kubende had conquered the literature field and was an author, drama and music teacher, inspiration speaker and lecturer.

I was privileged to be part of Kubende’s audience when he was marketing his novel, In Search of Gold. As he spoke confidently, he ensured to captivate the audience with humour as he gave a taste of the book.

The novel sold thousands of copies and was approved by the Kenya Institute of Education for use by secondary school students.

Kubende also served as a literature lecturer at Kigali Institute of Education.

Politics

The deceased was an irresistible crowd puller for Bungoma politicians as he would effortlessly make crowds dance and sing. He was instrumental in propelling former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati to the seat in 2017.

His efforts paid handsomely as Kubende was offered the job of the county’s protocol director.

Kubende would then switch his allegiance  become the personal assistant to former Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa.
