A Kenyan family is in mourning after the death of their son in Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada.

Joshua Miniga was a first-year student at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Science Department, where he was studying engineering.

Joshua was a firstborn and left behind a close-knit family of his parents and 2 younger siblings according to Mwakilishi.com.

He was described as a kind and emphatic young man who touched countless lives.

Joshua had been in Canada for a short time but his humour and loving heart have left fond memories to everyone who met him.

“It is with a heavy and profound heart that I reach out to you today. We have unexpectedly lost Joshua Miniga, a beloved brother who meant so much to all who knew him,” Wakenya Canada wrote.

The Kenyan community in Canada has organised a GoFundMe for his funeral expenses and the repatriation of his body to Kenya.

“To honour his memory and give him the farewell he deserves, we are seeking your generous support to assist the family in facilitating his funeral expenses which include repatriation of his body home for his final rites, where he will be received with lots of love,” the gofundme appeal read.

WoK earlier covered the story of a young businesswoman allegedly killed by her husband after a domestic dispute.

Sheila Wegesha was allegedly murdered by her husband Jack Bamboo who is a director of Uriri Light Academy.

The body of Sheila was found in bed at the couple’s Hill View estate home.
