The Club
Laviva Lounge, Bar and Grill is a popular entertainment joint located along Thika Super highway at Spur Mall in Ruiru, Kiambu county. The facility offers a wide variety of drinks ranging from cocktails, whiskey, gin and different types of beers offered at affordable rates.
Established in 2018, the club attracts a huge clientele mostly drawn from campus students in the nearby institutions such as Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenyatta University and Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) among others. The club uses a unique marketing approach whereby they use celebrity influencers to host their nights which in turn attracts a large audience. One of the most popular nights is Mingle Wednesdays that is hosted by Thee Pluto. Other events hosted at the club include Game Night Monday, Reggae Vibes Tuesday, Katika Thursday, Wild Friday and Glum Saturdays. The facility has hosted big time players in the industry like Nigerian artist Adekunle Gold, Khaligraph Jones and Sauti Sol among others.
Kelvin Shaban
Kelvin Shaban is a Nairobi-based businessman and owner of the popular Laviva lounge, bar and grill. The tycoon turned politician is well known for his wide collection of luxurious vehicles ranging from Range Rovers to sleek Mercedes Benz. All his vehicles have a customized number plate with the numero 001’ which he paid Ksh 1 million. Speaking in a past interview to Tuko, he revealed that the customized number plates are just his own way of standing out from the crowd and the fact that he strives to be number one in his endeavours.
“The customized registration number plates for all my vehicles speaks about my personality. I try to emerge the best in everything I set my hands on. Be it politics, be it business,” he explained.
Politics
Shaban has developed a keen interest in politics, and is has been spotted in the company of the likes of Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria, Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino and Murang’a county Women Representative Sabina Chege among others. The tycoon is contesting to become the next Roysambu constituency Member of Parliament under the Chama Cha Kazi party in the forthcoming August 9th 2022 general elections.
