Mathare houses have been submerged after heavy rains, and the Nairobi floods have affected many families in the city.

Most parts of Kenya are facing floods due to heavy rains, which has led to deaths and destruction of property.

Land speculators and those hoping to build homes have now been advised to check land for sale to see if they are buying good land or a waterlogged property.

In the Facebook group 52-week saving challenge Kenyans shared the importance of doing due diligence at this time to avoid being victims of floods in the future.

“This is the right time for buying land for building, u will know whether the land is wetlands or good for construction,” a Kenyan posted.

Many netizens noted that most land-selling companies are quiet during this season or have postponed plot site visits.

“The best time to invest in land is now If it has been postponed, just know it’s a red flag. Dress up for the weather ….assess the site,” James Ireri insisted.

Homeowners in Syokimau, Athi River who spent millions in buying properties have cried foul and blamed sellers after their homes got flooded.

In Syokimau, 360 Court Apartment owners accused their developer of not fixing drainage at the estate which is off Mombasa road.
