Khalif Kairo Addresses Bribery Allegations After Failing His Pilot Accreditation Exams

Car and aircraft enthusiast Khalif Kairo real name Joseph Kairu has come clean regarding bribery allegations after reports emerged that he had failed his Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) accreditation exams.

An insider at KCAA had leaked information that he has failed his exams and that he was planning to bribe lecturers to have his results doctored in order to get a commercial license despite being unqualified.

“A close source has revealed that Kairo has failed his exams at KCAA. He is however trying to bribe his lecturers,” an X user privy to the information tweeted.

The car seller admitted that he had indeed failed his examinations, saying that it was frustrating because he had attempted the examinations a couple of times before and had not been successful.

He shared his examination results slip online, which showed his grades in eight subjects, where he passed in four and failed in four.

The examinations he passed include Air Law(77%), Human Perfomance(75%), Operational Procedures(70%) and Principles of Flight(72%) , and failed Aircarft General Knowledge(55%), Flight Performance and Planning(67%), Meteorology(62%) and Navigation(52%).

As per the transcript, Kairo had been studying at Flitestar Academy as a part-time student, hoping to obtain a commercial pilot license.

A section of netizens barraged him with questions regarding the allegations, to which he clarified that it was not possible to have the results changed as it was a fully automated process. He further implied that he was doing the exams for his amusement and to challenge himself.

“You can’t bribe. Exam is fully automated, done on a computer and super randomized. Ukimaliza, the system automatically tells you kama umeanguka ama umepass. Plus what the point? i mean, mm naifanya for the fun of it,” Kairo wrote.

To address the skeptics, he thoroughly explained the examination process to clear himself of the accusations.

“You book online. You must do 8 papers in two days. Minimum 4 per day. Once you are done inakuambia kama umepass ama umefail. Ukifail, you can redo for max 10 times before the system forces you to start all over again,” the Kai and Karo CEO stated.

Kairo also revealed that his decision to enrol in aviation was because he dropped out of university as he was chasing a thrill in his career that his campus studies would not fulfill.

“Dropped out of a BA course and went to go build actual companies😅 I found uni too boring. Too much theory and stories. Flight school is a challenge, planes kill people and the exams are hard,” he wrote.

He then shared that he would retake his failed examinations on August 7th and 20th, doing two papers on each day. He also stated that he would continue practising his flying to acquire his minimum hours of flight to pass the exams.

“No wasting time, takes on average 4 attempts to clear exam, 7th Aug we are back. The rule is you must do all at once, so I will pass 2 on 7th, then on 20th august, clear the remaining 2. On other side bado we keep flying so that we attain the 200 min hours. Culmination of 3 years hard work,” he affirmed.
