Lokwachai Panyako: How I Grew From Spending Nights Without Food To Making Millions In Bricks Business

In the heart of Lityei village, located in Kapenguria West County, a tale of triumph against all odds unfolds.

Lokwachai Panyako, a determined entrepreneur, has defied the clutches of poverty and transformed his life through a simple yet ingenious business venture – brick making.

For years, he endured the harsh reality of nights without food, watching helplessly as his family grappled with poverty’s relentless grip.

The tears that welled in his eyes, witnessing his loved ones go hungry, ignited a spark within him – a determination to rise above the dire circumstances.

With a mere Ksh10,000 in hand, Lokwachai embarked on a journey that would change his life and his community’s fortunes.

He delved into the world of brick making, harnessing locally available resources like soil and sand to craft affordable building materials.

The demand for construction work in the area provided a propitious backdrop for his business to flourish.

Soon, Lokwachai’s bricks were in high demand, becoming integral components in the construction of churches, schools, and homes.

His daily output grew from strength to strength, with an average of 600 bricks sold daily.

During peak periods, this number soared to an impressive 1,000 bricks.

Lokwachai’s success, achieved within a short span, not only alleviated his family’s struggles but also opened doors for the local youth.

Through his enterprise, he offered employment opportunities and became a beacon of inspiration for many.

“I started this business with Sh10,000. It became profitable in a short while, and now I have employed many youths,” Lokwachai proudly stated.

Despite his primary school dropout status due to lack of funds, he embraced education through life’s lessons, proving that formal schooling is not the sole path to success.

Lokwachai’s accomplishments expanded beyond bricks.

With his earnings, he invested in plots in Makutano Township, the bustling commercial hub of his county.

Commercial premises sprung from the ground, a tangible symbol of his unyielding determination. Contrary to misconceptions, brick making became his gateway to financial prosperity.

In addition to his business ventures, he ventured into cloth selling, vegetable farming, maize cultivation, and livestock husbandry.

His portfolio expanded to encompass a public service vehicle, a hotel, and a table banking business, underscoring his versatility and astute business acumen.

Remarkably, Lokwachai’s story is one of a perpetual cycle of giving.

He not only empowers the youth through employment but also mentors them, sharing his hard-earned knowledge and expertise.

Many who once languished in poverty have blossomed into successful entrepreneurs, paying forward the knowledge they gained from Lokwachai’s guidance.

The ripple effect of his generosity has not only uplifted individuals but also entire families and communities.

“I have helped people fight poverty and take good care of their children. This gives me so much joy,” Lokwachai Panyako beams.
