Veteran Kenyan comedian and actor Mathias Keya popularly known as Makokha is mourning the death of his beloved wife.
Makokha’s wife Purity Wambui is reported to have died on Sunday, June 2.
The heartbreaking news was broken by Makokha’s friend and fellow actor Ondiek Nyuka Kwota.
Ondiek described Wambui as a remarkable woman who touched many lives with her kindness and warmth.
“Dear friends and fans. It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the Demise of Purity Wambui beloved wife of Makokha Makacha Aka “Babyface” Of Vioja Mahakamani On KBC Channel 1 TV,”
“She was a remarkable woman who touched many lives with her kindness and warmth,” Ondiek said.
Ondiek added that Makokha is grateful for support and messages of condolences from friends and fans.
“Matayo Keya aka Makokha Makacha And his family are deeply grateful for your love and support during this incredibly difficult season,”

Messages of condolences flooded in with many praying for strength and comfort for Makokha and his family.
Makokha and his wife Wambui have four children together.
Rise to fame
The comedian rose to fame when Mama Kayai of Vitimbi noticed his talent during a performance at a city hotel in 1992.
The veteran actress invited Makokha for a shoot and he went on to make it to the show without any auditions.
The form two dropout has gone to perform for former Heads of State.
He has performed for Daniel Moi, Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta in public functions.
Makokha, together with Ondiek Nyuka Kwota and Olexander Josephat bagged a Kalasha award for best comedy of the year 2017 with Hullabaloo that airs on Maisha Magic.
