Mike Njenga and Wangechi wa Muriuki: Profile Of Francis Gachuri’s Replacement On Inooro TV

Earlier this month, journalist Francis Gachuri left Royal Media Services where he worked as a reporter for Inooro TV and Citizen TV where he was also a panelist.

Gachuri left the station for a new role at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration where he will serve as the Head of Communications.

Following his exit, Inooro TV announced his replacement who will be hosting the Kiririmbi Show going forward.

A video promo on the vernacular station indicated that media personalities Michael Njenga and Wangeci wa Muruiki  would take over the show.

In this article, WoK looks at the profiles of Njenga and Muriuki and their highlights in the media industry.

Michael Njenga

After graduating from college with a Diploma in Journalism, Njenga first worked for Eagles Creations as a production supervisor.

He was then absorbed by TBN Family Media in 2003 where he first worked as a radio presenter and later promoted to radio team manager.

Njenga quit TBN Family Media after landing a job at Citizen TV where he hosted a live bulletin dubbed Live at 4.

He rose through the ranks and started presenting the 9 pm bulletin alongside late veteran journalist, Catherine Kasavuli.

He went on to host Business Center alongside Terryanne Chebet.

Njenga left Citizen TV to join Inooro TV where he works to date.

Wangechi wa Muriuki

Wangechi wa Muriuki started her career at KenTV before joining Nation Media Group as a news reporter.

The journalist later joined Royal Media Services’ Citizen TV as a director and producer, a role that she has held for over eight years.

She is Citizen TV’s morning show producer.

Wangechi later joined Inooro TV as a news anchor reading the news bulletin every Wednesday at 9pm alongside her colleague, Michael Njenga.

She also hosts Irio To Githeri, an educational program that showcases how different types of foods are prepared, showing every Sunday at 6:30 pm.

In a past interview with Nation, the beau explained that since launching her news anchoring career, she was yet to experience any goof while on air.

“However, there is this one time I forgot to place my phone on silent mode and it ended up ringing. The distraction was a mayhem

“The fun part about my job is that I get to meet different people, travel and also learn about other fields. It’s an exciting space for me,” she shared.
