Moses Kanyira: Rise Of Ex-Kameme FM Journalist Who Was Fired While Reading The 1PM News Bulletin

In a shocking turn of events, Moses Kanyira, a renowned former Kameme FM reporter, took to social media to share his story of being fired while reading the 1PM news bulletin after 17 years at the station.

Kanyira’s dismissal sent shockwaves through the media industry, shedding light on the challenges faced by journalists and the impact of corporate decisions.

Here is the inspiring story of the ‘Gaturu Ka Uhoro’ journalist as told by WoK.

An Unexpected Dismissal

The media personality experienced a sudden and surprising termination from the radio station.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Moses Kanyira revealed that he was unceremoniously fired from Kameme FM in 2020 while he was in the midst of delivering the 1pm news.

The unexpected termination came as a shock to Kanyira, who had dedicated 17 years of his life to the station and had become a household name in the vernacular radio landscape.

This event not only impacted his professional life but also left a lasting impression on his personal journey as well as that of his fans.

“Kwaherini ( goodbye) for those days we have been together in Kameme. Thanks to my fans for your support for the last 17 years. To the best of my knowledge, I have offered my service to this station in full capacity,” he shared on Facebook.

He later went on to add on another post:

“Good people thanks for your concern. It has taken God only a few hours to answer your prayers. My services have been absorbed elsewhere. I will update you on my new station tomorrow (Thursday)”

Allegations of Termination

While the exact circumstances remain subject to debate, there are allegations suggesting that nepotism played a role in his termination.

It is alleged that a relative of a senior employee was being groomed for his position, potentially leading to the premature end of Kanyira’s tenure at Kameme FM.

Glimpse Career

Prior to his abrupt departure, Moses Kanyira had established himself as a respected journalist during his long-standing career at Kameme FM.

He had become a familiar and trusted voice in the vernacular radio landscape, offering valuable news coverage and engaging content to the audience.

Allegations of Nepotism and a New Beginning

Kanyira went on to share his belief that his dismissal was rooted in nepotism within the station. According to his account, a relative of a senior employee was being groomed to take his place, and he was unwittingly involved in training this individual.

However, amidst the disappointment and frustration, the radio presenter found solace in the fact that he quickly secured a new job at Gikuyu TV, where he continued to showcase his talent until late 2021.

It was during his time at Gikuyu TV that Kanyira even assumed the role of managing director, demonstrating his ability to thrive even in the face of adversity.

Taking On New Opportunities

Kanyira’s story serves as a testament to the power of resilience and adaptability in the face of unexpected challenges.

Despite the setback at Kameme FM, he refused to let it define him. Instead, he seized the opportunity at Gikuyu TV and took on new responsibilities, showcasing his versatility and commitment to his craft.

Kanyira’s ability to bounce back from adversity serves as an inspiration to fellow journalists and professionals who may find themselves at a crossroads in their careers.

A New Chapter and Future Endeavors

Following his departure from Gikuyu TV, Moses Kanyira has reportedly found a new home at Mt. Kenya FM, signaling a fresh chapter in his career.

With his wealth of experience, resilience, and determination, there is no doubt that Kanyira will continue to make significant contributions to the media industry.
