The interesting story of one Mzee Ronald Wanyama alias Nabii Yohana wa Tano is one that can’t go untold. The Bungoma-based man who is aged 82 years has written his own bible with 93 books and has declared himself as the original John the Baptist who existed in the days of Jesus Christ.

Mzee Ronald Wanyama
Mzee Ronald Wanyama lives in Nandolia village, Kanduyi constituency in Bungoma County. In exclusive coverage by TV47, Wanyama has a special house in his compound where he attends to his followers. In the house, one must remove their shoes in order to go inside despite the house having an earthen floor. Outside the house, he has put a tall flag with 11 colors and surrounded it with 12 stones. While speaking during the interview, he revealed that it symbolizes that God has restored his Kingdom for the third time. He also explained that the flag colors have a meaning.
“Hiyo rangi nyeupe inaonyeshe mwangaza, bila mwangaza mtu atatembea? Red inaonyesha jua. Kila rangi ikona maana yake,” he explained.

Why John the Baptist?
When he was asked why he calls himself John the Baptist, Wanyama explained that he is the real John the Baptist.
“Wakati Yesu alikua Israel, Yohana alikua Israel. Wakati Yesu alizaliwa Bethlehem na akaenda Jerusalem alibatizwa na nani? Sasa wewe unashinda mtu amekuapisha kwa amri zake? Sasa yesu wakati alikua Israel alikua jina yangu, unasema mimi sikuzaliwa tena? Ni mimi mwenyewe nilikua Israel sio mtu mwingine,” he explained.
Writing a Bible
The 82 year old has written a bible which has 93 books contrary to the normal one which has a total of 66 books. He said during the exclusive interview that it is God himself who assigned him to write the bible.
“Mungu Mwenyewe ndio alipanga kazi yake. Mungu anaangalia population mkifikiria muende hadi mwisho wa amri zake tena anawaongeza akili. Si akili ndio inafanya mtu anafikiria… sasa Mungu anaangalia maandiko yake vile imefika mwisho, ni kama vile njia inaenda inafika mwisho si unapanua watu waendelee. Sasa hii maandiko ilikua imefika mwisho ndio maana unaona naandika maandiko mengine,” he said.

Writing a Constitution
He has also written a constitution which he says if the government doesn’t consider it officially then the country’s struggles and challenges will never end.
“Viongozi wenu wanawasumbua na kukula tu, hakuna kitu kingine wanawaongezea ambayo inajenga taifa hii. Mungu alinipa maarifa yenu yote nikabeba niko nayo hapa. Mimi ni mwalimu wa kila jambo na kila subject,” he said.
His fellow villagers and neighbors literally believe him and hundreds of people from across the western region have been flocking his compound seeking healing and help in spiritual matters.
“Karibu miaka kumi na tatu nilikua mwendawazimu. Alafu kutoka kwa wendawazimu wangu nikaanza kufurafura mwili kila mahali. Ukiniangalia mdomo utafikiria nyuki ameniuma. Nikakuja hapa na nikapona sahi niko sawa,” one man testified during the interview that aired on TV47.
Wanyama currently has 42 wives after 4 others died and refers to them as ‘Malkia.’ The youngest wife is aged 23 years old and despite being old, he plans to increase the number of wives in the near future.
