2022 succession politics.
Ngunjiri has been a strong supporter of the Kieleweke camp- a Jubilee wing opposed to deputy president William Ruto’s Tanga Tanga movement. In 2019, he spoke saying that Hon. William Ruto is a smart politician without a conscience who has been undermining and disrespecting his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta. Appearing on K24 TV Punchline, he said the working relationship between the president and his deputy had deteriorated and left to him he would sack the deputy.
The legislator maintained that he supports a candidate based on interests rather than political debts. This is to say that the people of Mt. Kenya will support the man who has their interests at heart.
On September 17th 2021, he said that the second in command should issue a public apology to President Uhuru Kenyatta. Saying that he should sincerely apologize and not issue his cheeky remarks. He added that he should admit he wronged his boss without necessarily expecting forgiveness or support come 2022.
Recently, he remarked that the 2022 presidential elections will be a race between DP and Hon. Raila Odinga.
“I have been listening to the ground, and it’s clear that 2022 is between Raila Odinga and William Ruto. The questions to determine this election might be in whose hands are we safe?,” He said.
Earlier in the year, he was on record saying that if Jubilee does not reorganize itself, they stand to lose more members. He said they had some heavy lifting ahead in order to fix the party and not everyone will want to do it.
Joining UDA
The MP posted a subtle message that seemed to suggest he was considering joining DP Ruto’s political vehicle, the UDA. here is the message for your own interpretation.
WHAT IS THE GROUND SAYING?
As you are ALL aware … 😉 … I have been listening to the ground. And speaking to it. And I have also received all your calls, messages and advise. (And I must admit I really really appreciate the concern and best wishes … especially the warm welcome that was being offered by my good friend & birthday-mate #njerikinuthia)
The most important thing I can say I have learnt … and this is considering that my team & I have been listening to our ground every week since 2015 … is … that … WAH!!! … the ground has changed! Complete ground-shift!
Anyway.
A more detailed report coming right up.
