The stores, spread across the country, can easily be confused with high end international stores like LC Waikiki-save for their location.
T2, as Think Twice has come to be known, stocks clothes going for as low as Ksh30. Other products you can find on their branches include sleeping bags, duvet and shoes.
So who owns Think Twice Hand Clothes?
T2 trades as Baltic Textile Trading Limited in Kenya. According to their website, the company was established in 2014 in Kenya and has gone to employ over 300 Kenyans.
The company traces its roots in Lithuania where it operates as Humana People to People Baltic (Humana Baltic). The first Humana second-hand shop and sorting centre was established in Vilnius in 1998.
Their noble idea was to “create a fundraising model based on re-using second-hand clothes, allowing people to buy good quality clothes at a reasonable price, and using the surplus to support development projects”, their official website reads in part.
Finding footing from this one shop, Humana spread its tentacles in other cities in Lithuania and other countries.
The Lithuanian public company owns and runs the activities of second-hand clothes and sorting centres in 13 countries. These countries are Kenya, Germany, Uganda, Lithuania, Oman, Togo, Turkey, Estonia, Hungary, Belgium, Georgia, and Ukraine.
As of December 2022, they had more than 272 retail shops, four sorting centers, and employed 3,400 people.
Profits from Think Twice Second Hand Clothes
Profits made from selling these second hand clothes are channeled to support development projects that seek to alleviate poverty, sickness, and lack of freedom.
As shared on their website, they donated € 3.5 million to development projects in 2022.
Humana People to People Baltic in Lithuania on its part, donated more than € 4.97 million for development projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Lithuania.
