Paul Kipsiele Koech is a retired Kenyan track athlete, famed for his iconic performances in the 3000 metres steeplechase during one of the country’s golden eras. He won bronze during the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

During a past interview, Koech revealed that the Ksh300,000 prize money from his achievements at the global event set him on a path of financial success in the dairy sector.

Kipsiele is a one-time Diamond League winner, one-time world indoor championships silver medalist, one-time Olympics bronze medalist, and ranked top 8 thrice in the world championships while running the 3000-metre steeplechase.

During his illustrious career, the seasoned athlete also competed in the half marathon, 2-mile race, and the 2-mile short track.

Kaso Dairy Farm

After bagging the Ksh300,000 cash prize in Athens, Paul Kipsiele Koech fulfilled his family’s long-running dream of owning quality dairy cows to satisfy their demand for milk and also generate revenue.

Initially, he purchased three cows that produced 20 litres of milk which was enough to feed the family and also sell to neighbours.

“I spent Ksh75,000 to purchase the cows and for the first time, my family had enough milk to drink and a little to spare,” Koech told The Standard.

This motivated him to grow his herd and pivot towards quality dairy breeds to increase milk production and grow revenue.

From the three cows, Kaso Dairy Farm located in Kachepkoro in Sotik, Bomet County has grown into one of the largest and most profitable dairy ventures in the region, raking Koech over Ksh300,000 per month in revenue.

While Kaso Dairies’ milk distribution business continues to grow and is among the best in Bomet County, Paul Kipsiele Koech has since ventured into value addition. The farm now produces branded Mursik milk. Mursik is the traditional Kalenjin sour milk.
The Mursik is available for distribution to various parts of the country in different size packs, from 500ml, to 1 litre and above.
