Age is just a number when it comes to love, and that sentiment rings true for many prominent Kenyan personalities.
In recent years, there has been a growing trend of these personalities finding love and companionship in their later years.
In this article, WoK looks at some of Kenya’s most famous figures who found love later in life.
Akothee
Akothee is 40 years old.
On Monday, April 10, she got married to her lover, Dennis Schweizer alias Omosh in a private wedding at the Windsor Hotel in Nairobi.
The two lovebirds met while Akothee was on vacation in Switzerland in July 2022 and got engaged three months later.
“I have tried getting married three times, but it never worked out. I was only once married once to the father of my children. The other two white exes I was with, never married me
“At some point I thought I would get married to the father of my third child, but it turned out to be an extreme sport being with him,” Akothee said at her wedding.
Governor Ann Waiguru
Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru got married to lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in a star studded traditional wedding ceremony in 2019.
The ceremony followed a private dowry ceremony was held in February that year.
Waiguru was 47 years old by the time she tied the knot.
Waiguru said their relationship started 10 years down the line in a ferry as they were travelling to a constitutional conference in Mombasa.
The two then had their first date at Thai Restaurant in Nairobi, leading to the current relationship.
Waiganjo was previously married to a Nairobi-based publishing consultant and journalist Lorna Seneiya with whom he had three children.
Esther Musila
Esther Musila is gospel singer Guardina Angel’s wife. The two got married in a invite-only wedding in January 2022.
Musila is 52 while her musician husband is 33. She has maintained that she lives her life fully, despite many questioning their age difference.
Musila is a mother of three; two sons and a daughter who are aged 29,26 and 23.
She was previously married to a man who had all of her children with her before he tragically died, leaving her to raise them alone.
Lilian Ng’ang’a
Lilian Ng’ang’a, a businesswoman, is Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Alfred Mutua’s former lover of 10 years.
Lilian and Alfred announced their separation in a joint statement in August 2021, however, stating that they will remain to be friends.
Following their separation, Lillian was quick to dismiss claims that she was married to the former Machakos Governor.
“We were longtime partners but definitely not married to him. We were not legally married but long term partners,” she clarified.
Lilian went ahead to get married to rapper Juliani in a highly privatized wedding at an undisclosed location in February 2022.
She got married at 37 years old.
