Quick Mart Supermarket Founder, Contacts And Number Of Branches

They was a time Nakumatt, Uchumi and Tuskys ruled the supermarket roost in Kenya. The first two came tumbling down like a house of cards amid failed resuscitation attempts by stakeholders. This paved the way for new entrants in the market like Quick Mart chain of supermarkets. For beginners, Quick Mart was founded in 2006 by the late businessman John Kinuthia. The then little-known supermarket outside the borders of Nakuru has made tremendous growth thanks to the business acumen of Kinuthia’s son, Duncan Kinuthia, who took over its operations from his dad.

Quick Mart Ruai Branch-The Master Stroke
The supermarket opened its first Nairobi branch in 2010 and the decision proved to be genius. Strategically located near Ruai bus terminus, the supermarket has become the preferred shopping outlet thanks to its wide selection of goods. Quick Mart rebranded almost a year from opening its doors from the Tuskys’s green like colors to the now attractive and distinctive red colors.

Expansion Of Supermarket Chain
While other outlets are closing shops, the family owned supermarket is enjoying growth that would please the patriarch of the multi-million business empire who died in 2016. The branches of the supermarket are:

Quick Mart Ruaka
Quick Mart Kahawa Sukari
Quick Mart Ruai
Quick Mart Eastern Bypass
Quick Mart Ruiru
Quick Mart Waithaka
Quick Mart Lavington
Quick Mart Nakuru Town
Quick Mart Nakuru Shabab
Quick Mart Kiambu Road

The supermarket has gradual grown to have 46 branches spread out in 12 counties.

New Owners

The growth of Quickmart can be attributed to its new investors, Adenia Partners, who are now the majority shareholders. The private equity firm took control of the giant retailer on 19 September 2019 through a transaction structured through Adenia Capital (IV) amounting €230 million.

The acquisition saw Quick Mart merge with Tumaini Self Service Limited, also acquired by the same investors in December 2018 under the special service vehicle Sokoni Retail Kenya controlled by Adenia.
