Rachel Ruto Gifts Martin Luther King Jr’s Daughter During U.S. Visit

First Lady Rachel Ruto gifted the daughter of the US civil rights movement leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Rachel gave Bernice King a Maasai Beadwork chain and bangles, a leather bag and an assortment of tea and coffee from Kenya.

In a video, Rachel is seen fitting the jewellery on Bernice.

When the jewellery was not fitting the the president stepped in to try and help.

The First Lady and the President later laid a wreath on the tomb of the late Dr Martin Luther King and his wife the late Coretta Scott King at the Martin Luther King Museum in Atlanta Georgia.

Bernice said it was an honour to welcome Ruto and his wife at the King Center.

“It was a privilege to welcome President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto of Kenya to The King Center today,”

“Their visit underscores our mutual commitment to peace and justice. Thank you for your inspiring leadership,” she said.

William Ruto on Monday, May 20 landed in the US on his first-ever State visit to Washington.

The visit to Atlanta is the first part of Kenya’s diplomatic meeting with the United States of America.

Ruto delivered a speech on governance and democratic values at the Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta.

“I welcome President Ruto’s engagements with civic leaders on issues of democratic governance while in Atlanta, as well as his focus on our people-to-people ties, public health partnerships, educational exchanges, investments in shared prosperity, and his engagements with Atlanta’s African Diaspora,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

William Ruto will be hosted by US President Joe Biden in Washington, D.C. on May 23.

One of the key engagement points between Ruto and Biden will be the deployment of Kenyan police officers to Haiti.
