Nicknamed the ‘duchess of Maragoli’ Ruth Ambogo is an embodiment of an astute lady whose star started shining as soon as she began pursuing leadership at an early age.

Ruth pursued a CPA course before she joined Strathmore University to study Bachelors of Law. Her university education was on a scholarship basis due to financial constraints. During her first year of education, she was elected to the student council as a public relations representative.

Deals With Wilkings Fadhili

In January 2019, Ambogo trended on Twitter for 3 consecutive days after she was allegedly conned Ksh 105,000 by Edwin Osiaro, better known as Wilkings Fadhili.

In a series of tweets, she exposed Fadhili who is said to have been fraudulently masquerading as a successful and intricately connected man.

Ruth first knew Fadhili when a mutual friend tagged her in a post suggesting that he (Fadhili) was looking for partners to set up a  business incubation centre. Fadhili had been touted as a deep pocketed young man and had even been featured on ‘top 30 under 30’ in Kenya.

“It was hard to suspect anything because he had been featured on a number of newspapers, and had done a number of TV interviews detailing what seemed like a very believable story of rising from grass to grace,” Ruth stated in one tweet.

She then met Fadhili and they began looking for office space to set up an organization that would register youths with business ideas and get people to pump in cash.

Fadhili had already indicated that he had bagged ksh 16.5 million for a start. However, he changed the cards and said the money would be channeled later and in bits. This forced  Ruth to explain their venture to a friend identified as Bryna Teli who funded them with ksh 105,000 for a start.

However, the deal was never to be as Fadhili allegedly made away with the cash. Bryna sued both Ruth and Fadhili after suspecting she had been duped.

After the experience, Kenyans on Twitter suspected a case of romance gone sour. Ruth distanced herself from being in a relationship with Fadhili though he indicated otherwise.

We were friends with Ruth at first but we had an intimate relationship at some point,” Fadhili told a local radio station.

Ruth has been vocal in politics and was a member of ‘daughters of Raila’ in the 2017 general elections. She has previously worked as a legal assistant in Nairobi woman rep. Esther Passaris’ office.

Early this year, she made headlines after claiming that an MCA in Vihiga had threatened her life.

“Vihiga county nominated MCA Venna Ubagga, I am not your age mate neither are you my class and stature. Threatening to kill me in the presence of witnesses is a criminal offense punishable by life imprisonment, “ Ambogo posted on Facebook.

In 2021, Ruth changed her loyalty to ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi before she flip flopped back to Raila Odinga’s pact and is currently reported to be Ida Odinga’s aide.

Walking out of Citizen TV interview

On 5th November, 2021, Ambogo stormed out of an interview with Trevor Ombija where she accused fellow panelists including Bungoma entrepreneur Steve Biko of dismissing her as a mere ‘political appointee’.

In a matter that went viral on social media Ambogo lost her cool as she angrily made her remarks, saying that she was well educated and deserved the position she holds.

“For a very long period of time I have suggested so many policy changes that have been adopted by the government and I know that nobody wants to hear this because there is a narrative that is being pushed by these young people sitting here that I am just an appointee serving a master but I am not an appointee serving a master,” Ruth said as she threatened to storm out of the interview.

However, Ombija told her she was free to leave and she made good her threat and left the interview.

According to medic Eric Amunga popularly known as Amerix, Ruth portrayed the perfect example of a ‘bitter feminist.’

“Feminists are always bitter at everyone, everything and nothing. She has no respect, she is rude, she is obnoxious.I feel sorry for men and women who line up to vote for such women,” he posted on his Telegram channel.
