Shari Martin: Classmate Shares Heartwarming Tribute to Late Gospel Singer

Late gospel singer Shari Martin has been remembered as a talented man who used his gift to serve God.

Actress Irene Kariuki said she first met Martin at Tarasaa High School where they both honed their talent.

Irene said they met again in Nairobi, where they used their gift to serve God.

The actress shared that his death has left her heart heavy.

“Words are not enough to celebrate this schoolmate of mine. It was at Tarasaa High School that our paths crossed. Our talents were both honed at this place. Yours in music and mine in acting. Our paths crossed again in Nairobi severally doing what we loved best serving God with our talent,”

“You have bowed out as the curtain came down and it was your time to exit. As you are laid to rest in that very lovely village in Ngao, my heart is heavy, but I know you have run the race, you have finished your course, and you have kept the faith. Rest well Shari Martin- sing with the angels.” Irene shared.

Shari Martin, iconic gospel artiste was best known for his timeless hit ‘Rafiki pesa’.

Martin died on Friday, August 2, at the age of 54 while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The announcement of his passing was announced by close friend and fellow musician Douglas Jiveti.

“Pioneer Gospel musician Shari Martin has sadly passed on. Such a gifted musician: A creative composer with strong lyrics, and a wonderful voice… Legend! May God rest his soul in eternal peace.” Jiveti said.

According to a family friend who spoke to NTV, Martin was recovering and expecting to be discharged from the hospital when he experienced breathing problems.
