During the Azimio mass action demonstrations on Monday, March 20, a video emerged online showing a restaurant in Kisumu being vandalized by demonstrators.
Reports indicated that the bar and restaurant dubbed, Pitstop Dala, was being vandalized having been associated with Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwour, alias Jalang’o.
Jalang’o is among ODM MPs who met President William Ruto recently, further defying Raila Odinga’s call for mass action.
However, WoK has established that Pitstop Dala is not associated with the MP in any way, the nightclub is owned by one Silas Imbanga.
Here is the story as told by WoK.
Radio Jambo presenter Gidi Gidi is among those who sympathized with Imbanga following the vandalism and looting that saw goods of unknown value stolen.
The radio presenter said he was involved in the establishment of Pitstop, from the construction to launch.
“One day, we as friends who patronise the club had a conversation on how we can start investing at home. Silas then told us how he had been thinking of opening up Pitstop branch in Kisumu
“We supported the idea and encouraged him. He got a place and constructed one of the best restaurants in Kisumu to the delight of many Rhumba fans,” Gidi Gidi wrote on Facebook.
While encouraging people to invest back at home, Gidi Gidi mentioned that the nightclub has created employment to many people in Kisumu.
“It’s hurtful to see someone destroy the property just coz of rumours. Pitstop Kisumu has employed many young people from Kisumu. It is not fair to target it just coz of rumours and malicious lies,” he concluded.
Imbanga is also the proprietor of Pitstop Grill in Lang’ata and Tents Restaurant in Nairobi’s Buru Buru Estate.
Imbanga is not new to the media, in 2018, he was embroiled in an scandal involving content creator Diana Marua.
The scandal was fueled by rumours surrounding the content creator’s daughter, Heaven Bahati’s, paternity.
However, Imbanga dismissed claims that he ordered for paternity test as had been alleged.
“Yes Diana is my ex-girlfriend but I did not demand DNA test. But the person doubting whether the child is his should go ahead and do the test,” he said.
