The company is currently the largest millers of maize and wheat in Kenya with branches in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Kitale.
MMM prides itself in the use of the latest modern technology to produce the best quality in its wide range of products. It enjoys 38 percent share market of the wheat flour category and 27 percent of the maize flour market share. MMM has a wide range of products in different categories. In the Maize flour line, the company’s products retail under the brand names; Ndovu maize meal, Cosmo maize meal, Shibe maize flour, Tima maize flour, Bahari Maize meal and Taifa Atta MK1 Maize flour. Baking products are Ndovu Home baking flour, Taifa All Purpose Flour, Swan Home Baking flour, Taifa Self Raising Flour, Cosmo Home Baking Flour and Taifa Chapati flour. Mombasa Maize Millers Limited was established in 1978 by two brothers, Islam Ali and Ahmed Ali famously known as ‘The Ali Brothers.’ The founders later passed away and the leadership was taken over by their children and the second generation family members who have continued to steer the company to major accomplishments and success. The leadership structure currently comprises Hashim Ahmed who is the company’s Director and Ali Ali who serves as the General Manager.

MMM started with a single maize mill in Mombasa. In its infancy, the company faced a lot of challenges such as capital facility which restricted the company’s ambitions to grow fast. During those days, many Kenyans would take the local unprocessed maize flour and it proved to be a difficult task to convince people to switch to processed maize flour. The lack of proper infrastructure also posed challenges when it came to communication and transportation, making it difficult to reach consumers across the country. However the founders didn’t give up on the dream and remained consistent and slowly by slowly the company began gaining loyal clients. The company has since grown from a small local brand to become the largest miller of maize and wheat in Kenya with a brand recognition on an international level.
