According to Kenya Varsity Awards 2021/22, University of Nairobi’s student leader Anthony Manyara is the top most influential student in Kenya. The list also featured renowned celebrities such as Azziad Nasenya and sprint sensation Ferdinand Omanyala. This article will feature the top 10 most influential students in Kenya.
1). Antony Manyara – UoN
Manyara serves as the chair of the University of Nairobi Students’ Association (UNSA) and also serves in the same capacity at Kenya University Students’ Union (KUSO).
The 28 year old hails from Meru County and is pursuing his second undergraduate degree in law after graduating with an architecture degree. Manyara represents Kenya in the Commonwealth Youth Council.
2). Ferdinand Omanyala – UoN
The 100m sprinter has flown Kenya’s flag high across the globe as he currently holds the record for Africa’s fastest man. Omanyala’s personal best of 9.77 seconds in the 100m race is among the best duration in the world. His rise to celebrity status has brought good tidings as brands have come out to associate with him. Aside from the track, he runs a cloth line going by the name Track Ferdy.

3). Azziad Nasenya – KIMC
Azziad Nasenya, currently aged only 22 became an online sensation after she took on the ‘Utawezana‘ video challenge on TikTok in 2020. As she danced to the beats by gyrating her waist, the video went viral as with some netizens awed while others body shamed her.
The viral clip had high engagement and she revealed that she received over 17k messages from the dance. Nasenya is currently the ambassador for ‘Save our Future’. She studies mass media at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication and is also an actress. She is followed by 1.6 million people on Instagram.

4). Rue Baby – Strathmore
The 24 year old is a fashion enthusiast and is the daughter to musician and business woman Esther Akoth alias Akothee. She has over 676k followers on Instagram.
In 2017, she beat 13 other contestants to win the Face of Nivea brand ambassadorship. She also featured in a local telenovela called ‘love daggers’ in 2019.
5). Shaq The Yungin – USIU
He is a radio presenter for NRG radio. He is known to live a lavish life and is thought to come from a well of family.
6). Crazy Kennar – JKUAT
The comedian is known for his funny video skits posted on Tales of the Crazy Kennar on YouTube. By the time of this publication, the YouTube channel had over 526k subscribers and 131 million views.
Crazy Kennar whose real name is Kennedy Odhiambo began acting while in primary school school and proceeded to hone his skills at Ringa Boys High School in Homa Bay where he represented the institution in drama festivals. He pursues actuarial science at JKUAT and is also owns a number of enterprises.

7). Yasmin Said – Daystar
She was thrust into the limelight due to her lead actress role in local show Maria that was aired on Citizen TV. Said was born and raised in the Coastal region of Kenya and studied at Ribe Girls before she joined Daystar University. Due to her popularity, she earned the brand ambassadorial role for Indomie noodles.
8) Thee Pluto – JKUAT
Born Robert Ndegwa, he is a renowned content creator and singer who began his career as a vernacular musician. Thee Pluto made his first million when he was only 20 years old and owns a multi-million mansion which we covered in a past article.
9). Agnes Kibanja – USIU
Not much is known about Kibanja, who is reported to be the ex girlfriend of comedian Chipukeezy. She has over 226k followers on Instagram.
10). Rachel Tabitha
According to her Twitter profile, she is the vice chairperson of Kenya University Students’ Union (KUSO). She is currently in the Azimio Coalition youth league.
