Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi is among the wealthiest politicians in the country. He boasts investments in various sectors including agriculture, transport and logistics, and entertainment.
According to media reports, Sudi is the alleged owner of Club Timba XO, a new entertainment joint that opened recently in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The club was launched recently in an event performed by Tanzanian artists Diamond Platinumz and Zuchu.
Sudi met Diamond in March this year. Images of the two circulated online as the lawmaker stated that he met the musician to discuss areas of shared collaboration regarding talent search and promotion.
It has since featured performances by some of the most renowned artists in the region including the famous DJ Joe Mfalme.
The club’s interior oozes class, a well-designed sitting area, an elevated deck, and spacious dance floor area on the ground and first floors.
Timba XO boasts a spacious parking lot, making it able to accommodate hundreds of patrons any given night.
Proximity to Nova School
On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, residents took to the streets protesting the school’s proximity to Nova School. According to the irate residents, the club is situated 100 meters from a school which is contrary to the law.
The locals argued that Timba XO poses a risk to school going children, therefore, should be shut down.
“We are asking the County Commissioner to act swiftly and shut down Oscar Sudi’s Club Timba XO because of its proximity (100 m) to Nova School.
“We are wondering if other restaurants have been closed; why are they not touching on the one owned by Sudi? Is it a church or what?” a resident posed.
The residents further argued that President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are leading the fight against alcoholism, yet Sudi continues to open liquor establishments.
They further claimed that the lawmaker’s business ventures continue to raise the question of the source of his funds.
“I am surprised that Oscar Sudi can contribute Ksh3 million more than the president. He must tell us where the money is coming from,” another resident said.
