Titus Kiarie: My Father Encouraged Me Despite Scoring 103 Marks In KCPE,  Now Am Owner And CEO Of My Own Company

  • Despite managing to score 103 marks in KCPE, Titus Kiarie did not give up
  • He went to on to found a successful insurance company

Many children are stifled with parental expectations during the national examinations. For most, when they fail, it seems as if life has come to an end.

Speaking to a local blog, Titus Kiarie advised this should not be the case. Having himself scored 103 marks in KCPE, and now a CEO, he urged parents to help their children if they performed dismally.

“If your child doesn’t get the results they were hoping for, they might be devastated, they need you to see that it’s not the end of the world. Or they may seem not to care, but inside, they may still be afraid and have regrets”, he opined to Tuko.

“They will need you to help them figure out where to go from here,” he told Tuko.

Here is his story as told by WoK.

Failing and Getting Encouraged

Upon sitting for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams at Matharu Primary School in Uasin Gishu, Titus scored 103 marks.

He said the results shocked him and made him feel he could never do anything well. When his father called him, he thought he wanted to punish him.

Instead, sensing his son’s frustrations, he encouraged him and promised to buy him a gift. He told him he believed he had done his best.

His father then told him of a man who did not go to school but became a millionaire. The older man told him that nothing could hinder his blessings and this boosted his confidence.

Higher Education and Getting Employed

He joined Chirchir Secondary School where he worked hard and got a C plain in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education Exams.

He then joined the College of Insurance and graduated with a Diploma in Insurance.

The CEO went on to secure a job as an underwriter and claims Officer.

Autoguard Insurance Agency

After seven years, he left the company to establish the Autoguard Insurance Agency.

Their services include: health insurance, motor insurance, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) business commercial insurance, contractor’s risk insurance, and personal accident insurance.

Apart from owning an insurance firm, Titus is also a successful farmer.
