Abba Marcus, the son of celebrated Ugandan musician Jose Chameleon, has broken his silence regarding his father’s health struggles, addressing public speculation about his weight loss and shedding light on family issues.

In a heartfelt statement, Abba revealed that Jose Chameleon has been battling alcohol addiction for a significant period, which has taken a toll on his health.

“My father’s struggles with alcohol addiction—this is something that he has been struggling with for quite a while now, henceforth the weight loss that people have been talking about,” he explained.

Abba also expressed his dismay over the online backlash against his mother, Daniella Atim, who has faced blame from certain quarters regarding Chameleon’s health.

“It completely disheartens me when I see people on the internet bashing my mother; making her the cause of everything. I’m here to tell you that that’s completely false—my mother has nothing to do with any health issues that my father might be experiencing,” he stated.

Abba also reflected on his father’s ongoing battle with addiction, describing it as a coping mechanism for deeper emotional struggles.

“Throughout my entire life, I’ve always seen my father struggling with alcohol and controlling the use of alcohol. He is a big public figure, and he is human at the end of the day; he may struggle with certain anxieties, and maybe he chose to use that as an escape, but unfortunately, that kind of thing has started catching up with him,” he explained.

Additionally, Abba did not shy away from expressing his frustrations with his father and the company he keeps.

“At the moment, even though I might not look like it, I’m very angry with my father and I’m angry with the environment that he puts himself in and the people he surrounds himself with,” he said.

Abba also took aim at Chameleon’s parents, accusing them of neglect and irresponsibility.

“Never in my life have I seen such unconcerned parents that are so careless about their children’s well-being. In this case, I’m talking about my father’s parents. So far, I have already lost two uncles, and that is because of the irresponsibility from parents,” he stated.

Abba went on to criticize his grandparents’ lack of support for Chameleon, despite the legacy he has created for the Mayanja family.

“Honest to God, I don’t even like to call them my grandparents because I don’t want to be associated with them. That’s a whole other story altogether. You’d expect my father’s parents to always care about him the most, considering he gave them their name. No one in the country of Uganda would know who the Mayanjas were if it were not for my father,” he stated.

Abba also accused those around his father of prioritizing financial gain over his well-being.

“The people around my father do not care about his well-being, and they don’t have his best interests at heart. They don’t care about him; they only care about the monetary value that he brings,” he concluded.
