40 And Above: Kenyan Female Celebrities Who Are Ageing Like Fine Wine

They say 40 is the new 30 which is evidenced by many people past 40 looking youthful. In Kenya, there are a number of prominent women who are past 40 and still looking young. They are the true definition of ageing gracefully.

In this article, WoK compiled a list of Kenyan celebrities who are ageing like fine wine.

Esther Passaris

The beauty queen turned politician has often been praised for her looks. She was born in 1964 to a Greek father and Kenyan mother. An advocator for women’s rights, she once took part in the Miss Kenya competitions and came second.

Raised in Kenya’s coastal area, the woman representative is still glowing with youthfulness.

Sabina Chege

The Murang’a native is a gorgeous politician aged 50-years-old. Before going on to conquer the political world, she appeared on our TV screens as an actress in Tausi. She played Rehema in the program and then went on to become a radio presenter.

Upon joining politics, she was elected Murang’a County Woman Representative in 2013.

Pierra Makena

Known as one of the biggest female DJs in the country, she was born in 1981 in Meru. She attended Chogoria girls before joining the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication. Establishing herself as an actor, she became famous for her role in Tahidi High. The DJ has also had big roles in a  couple of productions including Kisulisuli, Changes and When Love Comes Around.

She has always managed to maintain her youthful look and in 2020 became the talk of the town after losing more than 25kgs in three months.

Caroline Mutoko

Born in 1973, Caroline Mutoko has been christened the queen of radio. She started off working at Capital FM for free. Later, she landed a job with Radio Africa owned station Kiss FM where she grew to a top managerial position.

Nana Gecaga

Born in 1978, she is the former CEO of KICC. Nana is a mother of three sons and she is known for her stylish and comfortable fashion. She has inspired many by being open about her alcoholism. Nana studied in Kenya before completing her education abroad.

She is also a niece to former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Wahu Kagwi

Wahu has dominated the music industry in Kenya for years. She has released various hit songs and won numerous awards for her music. Despite being over 40, she still looks as young as she did the first time she appeared on the screens.

Esther Akoth

Akothee as she is famously known is one of the biggest singers and entertainers in the country.

Hers is a grass to riches story. Once, she was a humble woman in an abusive relationship selling small fish at a local market in Nyanza. Today, she boasts a successful music career and several investments to her name including a tour company named Akothee Safaris.

The mother of five is beautiful and still slaying even past 40.

Kalekye Mumo

Kalekye Mumo was born in 1976 and is a media personality and singer. She has worked at some of the top radio and TV stations in the country, such as Homeboyz, Capital FM, Kiss FM and K24 TV. After more than a decade in the media, she left and launched her PR firm in 2016.

The elegant celebrity also inspired many through her weight loss. She was able to shed 47kgs in eight months.

Cecilia Wairimu

She is a singer known for the stage name Amani. Cecilia was born in 1980 and later became a successful singer and songwriter. Her debut song Move on was a radio success. She then released more songs and collaborated with other big stars, like, Nameless and Nyashinski.

She was born again in 2018 and released two gospel songs shortly after named Upendo and My God.

Nazizi

Nazizi was born in 1981 and became known after winning Da Show competition in the 90s. She then became part of Necessary Noize and then released several songs.

She grew to become one of Kenya’s best hip hop artists and is even referred to as the First Lady of Hip Hop in Kenya.

Julie Gichuru

Julie Gichuru was born in 1978. The mother of four was known for her job as a news anchor at KTN. She then left to join Citizen TV. While she is no longer presenting news, Julie is an entrepreneur with interests in various sectors.

Eve D’ Souza

Eve D’ Souza was born in 1979. She is a media personality, radio presenter and actress. She worked at Capital FM from 2001 to 2010. She runs Moonbeam production which is famous for the sitcom Auntie Boss. She has also acted on Auntie Boss as Varshita and on the program Varshita.

Esther Musila

Esther Musila is the wife of Guardian Angel. Their dating led to a lot of talk in the internet. People were commenting about the fact that she was older than Guardian Angel and was a mother to adult children. People’s talk didn’t get to them and the two tied the knot earlier this year.

She is current 51-years-old as and still fit and beautiful.

Susan Kihika

Susan Kihika is currently serving as the senator for Nakuru and the gubernatorial seat in the upcoming general elections. She is one of the children of the late Moi era politician Kihika Kimani.

Susan was born in 1974 and successfully completed her primary and secondary education in Kenya. She then attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She then joined law school before coming back to Kenya and establishing a law firm.
