The hospitality industry is among the most vibrant sectors of the Kenyan economy. Over the years, a number of facilities and establishments have been set up across various parts of the country that continue to redefine the local industry.
Kenya’s Lakeside city, Kisumu is home to some of the largest hospitality establishments in the country. Better yet, the city has continued to witness increased development projects from local investors, boosting the economic profile and tourism attractiveness of the region.
In this article, WoK profiles the Vittoria Suites Hotel, a multi-million facility located less than three kilometres from the Kisumu Central Business District (CBD).
The Ksh335 million hotel first opened its doors in 2016, which came as a huge boost to the unexploited hospitality and tourism potential of the region.
The property was developed by Ogwedhi Properties and is located in the posh Milimani estate, less than 3 km from Kisumu CBD. The hotel adds to the about 20 mid to high-end hotels that have been built in the lakeside city over the last 10 years.
During the launch of the hotel, then Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma stated that the hotel complimented the county government’s efforts to boost tourism in the region.
The hotel which took two years to construct is a major destination for holiday makers and corporates looking for conference facilities.
“I note with satisfaction the great effort Ogwedhi Properties’ shareholders have made in enhancing the standards of affordable hotel accommodation in Kisumu,” Ranguma said.
“It is through the confidence of the local investors that foreign investors will learn the opportunities they are missing,” he added.
Vittoria Suites became the first hotel outside Nairobi to be managed by Trianum Hospitality.
“I challenge your chosen operator, the Trianum Hospitality Limited and your technical team to ensure that the standards of the finished product and the comfort of your hotel clients will be enhanced through international class services,” Ranguma told the developers.
Amos Omore, one of the directors of Ogwedhi Properties, stated that with the hotel would be a game changer in the region’s hospitality industry, adding that with similar ventures, Kisumu would soon become a highly preferred tourism destination.
Vittoria Suites Hotel was designed by the architectural firm AIA. The multi-million establishment is situated a few kilometres from Kisumu International Airport and 900 metres from Tom Mboya College in the serene environment of Milimani Estate,
It features 70 studio suites, 100 square metres of meeting space, a restaurant that opens onto a landscaped garden terrace, parking, management offices, a CCTV security system and electric fencing.
The hotel offers 24 hours reception service, daily housekeeping services, Laundry service (at a fee), and Airport transfers (at a fee).
Vittoria single and double suites are bright and spacious rooms which feature modern designs with ultimate comfort and luxury. The rooms offer an inspiring environment; the spacious windows let through the sun rays and provide a breathtaking view of either the Kakamega Hills or Lake Victoria in the horizon.
The rooms come with an LCD TV, Select DSTV channels, Free WIFI connections, a Work desk and ergonomic chair, Tea & Coffee making facilities, daily housekeeping services, and Bathroom amenities.
Vittoria Suites provide a venue for meetings, seminars, launches and other events. The hotel has 2 fully equipped meeting rooms which come with state-of-the-art video and audio equipment. The meeting rooms have access to a secretariat room with full functions of a business centre and have internet access.
