Billionaire and founder of Mwale Medical and Technology City (MMTC), Julius Mwale, held talks with 19 African presidents at the ongoing US-Africa summit in Washington, DC hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden between December 13-15.

The summit, which brought together 50 heads of state from Africa, saw the Biden administration commit USD55 billion in funding spread out in three years to cover such areas as health, the environment, innovation, and women’s empowerment.

Mwale took this opportunity to meet head of states to forge partnerships to spread MMTC city project in their countries.

The billionaire has been in talks with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo who welcomed the businessman to invest in the country.

He has also meet with Sierra Leone President Julius Bio in Freetown this September to discuss the possibility of investing in the country.

Mwale partnered with U.S. firm KE International to build a 16-gigawatt solar battery manufacturing plant in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to power African cities including Kenya.

He was in talks with the Senegalese government to build Africa’s longest bridge, the seven-kilometer-long proposed Lungi Bridge.

MMTC has a large medical and technology complex in Butere Sub-county, Kakamega county.

The USD2 billion has a 5,000-patient capacity Hamptons Hospital, with a research and innovation park in the Plaza district

A statement from MMTC read:

“Our team was privileged to interact with government and business leaders from US and Africa including President William Ruto and 18 other heads of state.

The summit which is hosted by President Joe Biden attracted more than 50 heads of state from Africa.

The US government committed over US $ 55 billion for Africa over the next three years in areas of health, environment, innovation and women empowerment. MMTC will benefit from some of the resources as we expand our projects across the continent,” MMTC said in the statement.
