President William Ruto’s close aide Dennis Itumbi has called on the Kenya Police to release comedian and activist Eric Omondi.
Itumbi said Eric should be freed to attend his brother’s Churchill Show tribute.
The tribute show dedicated to Fred Omondi is being held at Carnivore.
“Please, dear Police release Eric to attend Churchill Show tribute to his brother Fred,”
“Let him script on, I actually laughed at myself, I had believed the story that someone stole a horse from the police. Let Eric Omondi mourn while free from the cells. Tafadhali.” Itumbi said.
Eric was arrested on Friday, June 21 after holding a one-man protest against the Finance Bill at Parliament.
His wife Lynne Njihia said his whereabouts were unknown after the arrest.
Kenyans on social media have pressured police and the government to release him.
The big comedy names to perform at the tribute event will be Lang’ata MP Jalang’o, Terence Creative, Mammito, Teacher Wanjiku and Butita among many others.
Tickets for the show will go for KSh 1000.
The much loved comedian died on Saturday morning, June 15.
Police said the accident happened after a bodaboda carrying Omondi was involved in an accident.
Meanwhile, Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill has pleaded with Kenyans to support Eric Omondi after the death of younger brother.
In an emotional post on social media, the comedy guru said Eric has always supported people in need and this was the best time to stand with him and his family.
