Flair by Betty Salon and Spa

Betty Mutei Kyalo is the Founder and director of Flair by Betty – a boutique salon offering hair, Beauty, Spa and Barber Services. The business was first launched in 2018 after she had left Posh Palace salon after falling out with her business partner Susan Kaitanny. The premises was first located at FCB Mihrab in Kilimani moving in 2021 to the same area but along Rose Avenue, George Padmore road junction just next to Hotel Monarch. While speaking during an exclusive interview with Comedian Felix Odiwuor that aired on Jalango TV, Betty revealed that the decision to relocate was inspired by the need to grow and offer their clients a new experience.

The first place was beautiful and amazing. The building was iconic and we created a kind of boutique salon. But for now I felt like I needed to give my clients a new experience and a variety of options like an outdoor salon, massage room and an exclusive men’s barber shop. Here we have enough space, it’s actually three times bigger than the other one. We have our own compound and enough parking. Parking has always been an issue for many businesses and here we are glad we have ample parking,” she explained.

Facilities available at Flair by Betty

Men can now get a good haircut done by professional barbers at Flair by Betty. There is a special room for Muslim ladies offering privacy when their hair is being done due to their religious customs. There is a spa and a massage room with its own bathroom and toilet and also there are options for a couple room with two beds. The premises has a kids salon which is customised with amazing cartoon artworks on the wall and toys to give the children a comfortable and relaxing experience when their hair is being done. There is a room where one can access the pedicure and manicure services as well as waxing. The facility offers an outdoor salon where one can get their hair done while seated under a tree in the green garden. The building also has a Flair café where visitors can relax and have a drink as they wait for their partners to get done.

Sponsors behind Flair by Betty

After Betty Kyalo launched the exquisite salon in an event that was graced by the wife of Right Honorable Raila Odinga Mama Ida Odinga, rumors began circulating that she got money to set up the business from rich businessmen and celebrities. However, Betty Kyalo came out in her YouTube channel during a Q&A session to dismiss the claims and reveal that she financed the salon with the help of bank loans, close friends and family members.

“The sole financial help that I got was from my contacts at the bank, my mother and my savings. I also had people who held my hand along the way. There are those friends who stood by me. If I needed Ksh 50,000, some people would say they can afford Ksh 20,000 and I would take it,” she explained in the video that aired in her YouTube channel.

“There is no one who asked me ‘Betty what do you need?’ ”she said while mimicking an old man’s voice.
