Kenyan actor and content creator Abel Mutua is facing backlash after admitting to kissing Sarah Hassan.

Abel popular for his role as ‘Freddie’ on the award-winning high-school comedy series Tahidi High caused outrage for intentionally setting up kissing scenes with Sarah.

The fire was stoked in an interview with the Mic Cheque podcast where Abel admitted to using his position as script writer to get kissing scenes with Sarah Hassan who played Tanya on the show.

“Tanya alikuwa mpolite, “Mungu ni nani? Our very last episode, nilisema wallahi huyu dem, amekuwa akininyima… The very second last scene of my episode on the show nilimpiga mate kwa class. Nilimkiss mbaya,”

“Sasa unakataa na script ndio inasema? That was very intentional,” he added.

Abel’s confession was met with anger with many netizens accusing him of misconduct.

It’s the fact that you cannot see that it is not just about Sarah Hassan, because if Abel has not learned what he did was wrong, what else has he done/what harmful behaviour is he enabling from other actors in this orbit? – Miss Mumbz said.

That’s the thing. He seems unapologetic about it. How much more harm is he causing now when he is even more powerful and influential? – Wanjiru Mbogo shared.

In recent years, Abel has used his influence to raise the profile of several causes important to his heart.

His Mkurugenzi show is devoted to telling relatable life stories that leave people thinking about the situation in a more critical way.

He has also been one of the biggest voices advocating for proper parenting, especially building on dad-daughter relationships.
