A research carried out by Odipodev in conjunction with Code 4 Kenya brought to the fore how media ownership influences messaging to the masses. It goes without saying that the most popular media houses are either owned by politicians or individuals closely linked to them. According to Odipodev, “this state of affairs leaves journalists and editors with an increasingly impossible task of balancing between fair reporting and the interests of owners”.
