When Pro Gas-formerly known as My Gas-was first unveiled, rumours spread fast and became almost believable that the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) company belonged to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

Who is the owner of Pro Gas
The founder of Pro-Gas is billionaire businessman Mohammed Jaffer. The company started operations in Kenya in 2017 and has gone to establish itself as a market leader.

The owner of Pro Gas was born in Mombasa in 1948. He is the owner of Africa Gas and Oil (AGOL) which owns Proto Energy Limited under which Pro Gas is sold.
The billionaire is the founder of MJ Group, Africa’s largest provider of cargo handling services at the port of Mombasa.
According to a piece appearing on Forbes Magazine, the terminal cost Jaffer $35 million in the 1990s and is now valued at over $140 million.
His company has other cargo handling terminals and freight stations in Kenya, Uganda and the United States as well as LPG Terminals and a grain terminal at the port of Lake Charles in Louisiana in the United States.
Mohammed Jaffer’s vast empire that is estimated at $1 billion started four decades with an initial investment of $200, reports Khoja Leadership Forum (KLF).

“I am grateful to God that he gave me a healthy life up to my advanced age. Youth should take over from elders. Elders must have faith in the youth. They are our future. I tell upcoming entrepreneurs that there is no shortcut to success. You can’t make it without hard work, dedication, and being honest. The three give a solid foundation to business success,” Jaffer’s who now concentrates on charitable courses was quoted by KLF.
