Nakuru is the fourth largest town in Kenya and is home to some of the best hotels in the country. It has a number of tourist attraction sites like Lake Nakuru, Baboon Cliff View Point, Hyrax Hill Museum, Lake Nakuru National Park and Menengai Crater.
Glory Guest House
The guest house has 59 guest rooms. The front desk operates on a 24 hours basis and there is free Wi-Fi in all the rooms. There is free self parking. Pets and service animals are not allowed. It does not have a restaurant on site and neither do they offer breakfast. A double goes for about $22 a night.
Premier Lodge
Located close to Nakuru National park, Premier Lodge offers airy rooms with free Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping and luggage storage. It has a total of 88 rooms that come with rainfall showers and TVs with digital channels. The property has no front desk, hence, guests need to contact them 24 hours prior to their arrival. There are no extra beds and pets are not allowed. A room can go for about $14 a night.
Sleepway Cottages
It is located 2.6km from Westside Mall and has free parking, a restaurant, a bar and a shared lounge. Rooms are fitted with flat screen TVs, bathroom with shower and free toiletries and a kitchen. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the property, the front desk operates for 24 hours and there are currency exchange services for foreigners. A room goes for €9 a night which is a little over Ksh1200.

Pilgrim Getaway
Located 18km from Lake Nakuru National Park, Pilgrim provides accommodation with a restaurant, free parking, a shared lounge and an outdoor swimming pool. They also provide room service and desk tours for guests. Each room has a balcony and a private bathroom with free toiletries. Continental breakfast is available every morning. The rooms vary in price with the cheapest going for €10
Huruma lodge
It is located in Gilgil which is less than an hour away from Lake Nakuru National Park. It is a smoke free property with 21 rooms which come with bathrooms with rainfall shower heads and a digital television. It goes for $22 a night.
Malaika Apartments
Affordable apartments that provide free parking and Wi-Fi. Each apartment has a kitchen with kitchenware, children’s cots, trash cans and cleaning products among other amenities. The price of the apartments is about $21 but they are closed temporarily at the moment.
Homebase Gardens
Located 4.4km from Westside Mall, Homebase Gardens has 9 rooms. They offer free English breakfast daily, room service within limited hours and have a restaurant and bar. The front desk operates for 24 hours and there is free Wi-Fi in the rooms. The rooms can go for about $23 a night.
Amoh’s guesthouse
It is situated 11km from Westside mall and is a smoke free zone with free Wi-Fi, a shared kitchen, room service and luggage storage for guests. The staff are friendly and the location is in close proximity with amazing restaurants. The price will depend on the owner.
Loika Guest Lodge
It has 46 rooms and no front desks, therefore, guests have to inform the caretakers prior to arriving there. Meals are only provided via reservation before checking in to the hotel. There is free Wi-Fi and no onsite parking. A daily free continental breakfast is available and they also offer laundry and dry cleaning services. No pets or serviced animals are allowed and smiling is only allowed in designated areas. The rooms have a private bathroom with rainfall shower, a desk and free bottled water. The cost per night is about $30.
Kaka Guest House
It has 42 rooms and a 24 hour check-in policy. The hotel has a 24 hour front desk service, luggage storage and designated smoking areas. The rooms come with free Wi-Fi, a desk, daily housekeeping services, 18 inch TVs with digital showers and a private bathroom with rainfall showerheads and free toiletries.
Conclusion
Nakuru is the biggest town to live in after Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu. Finding cheap accommodation is not easy unless you have a guide who knows the area very well. The prices in this article are not constant but subject to change.
